If you are like most people, when it's time to complete your taxes you reflect over the past year at the major events that occurred in your life and wonder which have tax implications. Maybe you changed jobs in January, got married in May, sent your child off to college in August, and added onto your home in September. All of these life events have an impact on your taxes. The problem is, there isn't one location in the IRS instructions that explains how a major life event affects your taxes and how you can prepare for upcoming life events. Doug's Tax Service takes major life events and organizes them by event rather than by IRS form. They cover what you should do if you know an event is coming (i.e. marriage, birth of a child, etc.), how it impacts your taxes and how to reflect the event on your tax return.
